Ambassador Dr. Manorma Soeknandan, Deputy Secretary General CARICOM, will join the Caribbean Evaluators International in observing gLOCAL Evaluation Week, held this year from May 31- June 4. The panel on which the Ambassador will participate is scheduled for 6:00pm EST, Monday May 31, and will address “The Demand and Support for Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) in the Caribbean.” She is expected to speak on “CARICOM heading towards A Results Oriented Culture, the role of M & E”.
Global Evaluation Week (gLOCAL) is an annual M&E knowledge sharing initiative, convened by the Global Evaluation Initiative, with support from hundreds of institutions around the globe. Its inspiration comes from the acknowledgement of two forces that are shaping today’s evaluation landscape, where global knowledge shapes local evaluation practices and local experiences influence global evaluation thinking. Its purpose is to promote evidence-based policy making and improve development outcomes.
Caribbean Evaluators International is a network of monitoring, evaluation and development professionals established in 2014, with a focus on advancing evaluative practice in the Caribbean. The CEI was part of the very first gLOCAL in 2018, partnering with the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies to host a seminar on the Challenges facing M&E in the Caribbean region. This year, the CEI embraces the overarching theme of “Building Forward Better”, as well as an important sub-theme for the region, “Closing the M&E gap”, in partnership with #Eval4ActionCampaign, an initiative to accelerate progress toward achieving the SDGs through advocating for stronger evaluation capacities and evidence-based policies.
Events are planned for each day, Monday May 31 to Thursday June 3 at 6pm EST, with al Midday (1:00 pm EST) session on Monday. All events are virtual, free and open to the public.
