Different evaluation standards and guidelines that can be utilized by evaluators to design and plan their evaluations. These include the American Evaluation Association’s Evaluators’ Ethical Guiding Principles, The Joint Committee on Standards for Educational Evaluation Program Evaluation Standards, founding evaluator father Michael Scriven’s Key Evaluation Checklist, The Organisation for Economic Co-operation, and Development DAC Criteria along with their Evaluation Quality Standards, and The Caribbean Development Bank’s Guiding Principles for Evaluation, among others.
Familiarity with these combined standards along with other international guidelines can help evaluators to ensure that evaluations are conducted in a professional and transparent manner. They can also help to ensure that evaluation contracts are sufficiently detailed to avoid potential problems that could occur during an evaluation.
This presentation will take participants on a guided tour of the aforementioned guidelines and show evaluators how these guidelines can help them to ensure that their evaluations are credible, in adherence with international best practice protocols, and how use of professional evaluation standards and guidelines can help to minimize criticism of the evaluation design and ethical dilemmas.
